Kemen undergoing medical with Lyon

Newcastle midfielder Olivier Kemen is undergoing a medical with Lyon ahead of a permanent move, according to BeIN Sports.

The France U19 captain signed for Newcastle from FC Metz two years ago and hasn’t made a first-team appearance for the club as of yet, but is considered one of the best prospects on Tyneside.

BeIN Sports understands that the 19-year-old has travelled to France to complete his move to Lyon, and will be unveiled this evening before their transfer deadline, along with promising Spanish midfielder Sergi Darder.

However, RMC Sport journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi, who also confirms Lyon’s interest in the Newcastle midfielder, states that Kemen could return to Ligue 1 this summer, but there is no agreement yet between the clubs but expects the move to go through.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has also confirmed talks with Newcastle over Kemen but, like Mohamed, admits there is no agreement in place as of yet.

We have discussions with another young player, Olivier Kemen, but this is not finalised

Premier League clubs Tottenham and Liverpool have both been linked with a move for Kemen, as have Champions League outfit AS Monaco and Serie A giants AC Milan, but it appears Lyon will get the deal over the line.
