Magpies plot loan move for former striker

Newcastle are preparing a shock loan move for former striker Loic Remy in January, according to French media outlet Le10 Sport.

Steve McClaren is reportedly desperate to bolster his attacking options, and Remy, who scored 14 goals in 26 games during his time on Tyneside, has emerged as a potential target.

A permanent move for the Frenchman wouldn’t be plausible in January, as he is currently tied down to a lengthy contract with the Blues.

Since joining Chelsea last year, Remy hasn’t managed to force his way into Jose Mourinho’s team, with substitute appearances a common occurrence for the 28-year-old.

With Chelsea enduring a horrible run of form, many of their fans have called for Remy to replace the out-of-form Diego Costa in the team’s starting eleven, but to no avail.

A move for the former Toon fan favourite could depend on the futures of Papiss Cisse and Emmanuel Riviere, who are both attracting interest from abroad.

A return to Tyneside for Remy would undoubtedly please the Geordie faithful, and the prospect of him forming a partnership with Aleksandar Mitrovic or Ayoze Perez will have fans licking their lips.
