Newcastle United take on West Ham United in the Premier League later today as they look to finish their campaign on a high at home.

Eddie Howe‘s side have endured a disappointing season overall and are currently 13th in the standings.

West Ham, on the other hand, are fighting to avoid the drop with just two Premier League games left for the season to conclude.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are 18th, two points behind 17th-placed Tottenham, who travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea on Tuesday.

The Magpies aren’t playing for much but will look to give their home fans something to cheer about after what has been a turbulent campaign on and off the pitch.

Newcastle vs West Ham – team news

Anthony Gordon isn’t expected to feature for Newcastle as he continues to be linked with a move to Bayern Munich.

Lewis Miley (calf), Emil Krafth (knee), Tino Livramento (groin) and Fabian Schar (ankle) are all unavailable, while it remains to be seen whether Joelinton recovers on time to make the matchday squad as he continues to recover from a thigh injury.

As for West Ham, Adama Traore suffered a quadriceps injury and will not be available for the game. Otherwise, the Hammers have a clean bill of health, with Nuno expected to name a similar XI to the one that faced Arsenal.

Newcastle and West Ham to share the spoils

The Magpies lost four Premier League games in a row last month but got their campaign back on track with a win against Brighton and a draw against Nottingham Forest.

However, it goes without saying that things haven’t clicked for them, while they might lack a sense of urgency as they aren’t playing for much in the two games that remain.

That said, they still have a chance of finishing above arch-rivals Sunderland in the table, which should serve as motivation for Howe and Co.

West Ham, on the other hand, are fighting to save their Premier League status. If they fail to win today, their relegation could be confirmed on Tuesday if Tottenham beat Chelsea, so this is very much a do-or-die game for them.

Speaking exclusively to Read Newcastle, Sebastian Bassong picked Jarrod Bowen as West Ham’s danger man ahead of the game at St James’ Park.

And while the Englishman will clearly be one to watch, we feel the two sides will cancel each other out in a tightly fought clash.

Prediction: Newcastle 1-1 West Ham
