- Eddie Howe lavishes praise on William Osula
- Danish striker been in fine form in recent weeks
- Howe feels Newcastle striker will get even better
William Osula has been Newcastle United’s main man in recent weeks and has really come to life during the back end of the season.
And Eddie Howe feels there is more to come from the striker, who is finally starting to find his feet at St James’ Park after blowing hot and cold.
Osula was close to leaving the club in the summer of 2025, but the deal broke down, so he remained at the club.
And judging by his form in recent weeks, it is well and truly a blessing in disguise.
Eddie Howe salutes William Osula’s development
With Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade at the club, Osula was a peripheral figure during the first half of the season.
He mostly featured as a second-half substitute to run at tired legs and scored just one Premier League goal until mid-March.
However, since then, he has notched up five goals in the competition, including two against West Ham United last week.
Howe believes Osula can get even better next season, adding that he has all the right attributes to become a top-class striker.
“He is at a really good age, lots of things to continue to work on, there are lots of untapped areas we can develop, the ceiling in his development is really high,” said the boss in his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s clash against Fulham.
“He has the raw ingredients, the physical profile too.”
Osula has a bright future at Newcastle United
This is not the first time the gaffer has praised the young striker. After the win against West Ham, Howe lauded Osula’s growing presence within the Newcastle squad, which is a clear sign that he is highly rated.
Additionally, we wrote on Read Newcastle that Howe’s comments could be mad news for Wissa, who, unlike Osula, has really struggled in recent weeks.
The Magpies are likely to make a few changes in attack this season, especially with Anthony Gordon close to a move to Bayern Munich.
But regardless of what happens, Osula is set to remain at the club, maybe even at Wissa’s expense.
The Danish striker took his time but is finally showing his class. And if he keeps it up, he could save Newcastle millions in the way of transfer funds.
