- Newcastle United linked with Borussia Dortmund midfielder
- Magpies braced for Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento offers
- Eddie Howe in need of additional wingers at St James’ Park
Newcastle United confirmed the sale of Anthony Gordon to Barcelona last week, with £70 million pocketed for the England international.
The Magpies can now begin their summer of recruitment in earnest, having been in a position where sales would have to be made before purchases.
There are, nonetheless, expected to be more departures this summer. ReadNewcastle looks at how Newcastle United could line up next season if current rumours are true.
Newcastle United XI if transfer rumours are true
Goalkeeper – James Trafford
Defenders – Marco Pallestra, Malick Thiaw, Jorge Salinas, Joaquin Seys
Newcastle United are expected to confirm their retained list this week, which will also announce the return of Aaron Ramsdale to Southampton with his £25 million loan-to-buy option not activated.
Even if Leeds United do not swoop for Nick Pope, his time as number one on Tyneside is running short and Reims man Ewen Jaouen is now a firm target for the club. However, The Athletic believe Jaouen would only be signed alongside a more experienced option, such as James Trafford.
The Athletic also claim that Manchester United could move for Lewis Hall with Manchester City and Arsenal both admirers of Tino Livramento. Atalanta right back Marco Pallestra and Club Brugge man Joaquin Seys could be replacements, according to The Mail and Het Nieuwsblad.
Malick Thiaw has been thoroughly impressive at centre-back. Fabian Schar is expected to sign a new deal but a fresh face could come in highly rated 19-year-old Jorge Salinas.
Borussia Dortmund midfielder and Real Betis winger linked with Magpies
Midfielders – Felix Nmecha, Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton
Wingers – Abde Ezzalzouli, Matias Fernandez
Striker – William Osula
The Athletic also provide an update on Sandro Tonali in their latest Deal Sheet, with Manchester City now apparent frontrunners for the Italy international. Sky Germany believe Borussia Dortmund man Felix Nmecha could be targeted as a replacement.
Anthony Gordon has already left for Barcelona and Harvey Barnes is linked with Aston Villa. Real Betis £51 million hotshot Abde Ezzalzouli has been scouted by the Magpies, with Lille forward Matias Fernandez capable of playing on the right flank and named as a target by TEAMtalk.
All of that spending would surely need to be offset with the departure of either Nick Woltemade or Yoane Wissa, with William Osula’s end-of-season form enough to suggest he keeps the starting berth next year.
