Throughout the years, Newcastle United have become renowned for their injury issues. The likes of Jonathan Woodgate, Michael Owen and Kieron Dyer instantly spring to mind when the words “injury prone” are used.

Unfortunately, this situation is not restricted to Newcastle’s past, with the Magpies topping the injury league table last season and currently occupying top spot again this campaign. Long term injuries to key personnel such as Tim Krul and Jack Colback have left Steve McClaren severely short of options in vital areas of the pitch.
