Newcastle man on his way to Scotland

Scottish side Aberdeen are confident of securing a loan deal for Newcastle goalkeeper Freddie Woodman after the Magpies’ game against Burnley tonight, according to the Daily Mail.

The window in Scotland closes at midnight, compared to the 11pm deadline in England, and Aberdeen are confident of finalising a deal after Newcastle’s game, where Woodman is set to be on the bench.

Newcastle are hopeful of signing Martin Dubravka on loan from Sparta Prague, which will then allow Woodman to make the move to Scotland for the remainder of the season.

Woodman, 20, is set to replace current Aberdeen number one Joe Lewis who is out injured, and the England under-21 international knows what its like to play in Scotland after previously enjoying a spell with Kilmarnock.

Aberdeen are currently 3rd in the Scottish Premiership, level on points with 2nd place Rangers, so the 6-month loan move will test Woodman’s ability with a top team if the deal can be completed.
