Newcastle won’t be signing Paris Saint-Germain left-back Moussa Sissako before the window closes – but how big of a setback will it prove to be?
According to RMC journalist Loic Tanzi, cited by Sports Witness, the Magpies, along with fellow Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion, both failed in discussions over a deal for the highly-rated 18-year-old.
Steve Bruce hasn’t added to his centre-back ranks this summer, so how big of a setback will a failed move for Sissako turn out to be?

Sissako appears to be a star of the future, so failing to get a deal over the line in recent weeks could turn out to be a serious mistake by the Magpies.
Despite failing to make a first-team appearance under Thomas Tuchel at Parc des Princes, the teenager appears to have all the attributes needed in a modern-day defender to make it at the top level.
The youngster has caught the eye in the UEFA Youth League with his towering presence, pace and intelligent reading of the game.
Sissako is still under contract in the French capital until 2021, so the Magpies could be keen on going back in for the defender come January. However, they may have missed their best chance of landing the Frenchman this summer.
