Newcastle United fans debate potential return of former manager

These Newcastle United fans have debated the return of former manager Rafa Benitez after reports of a £340m takeover at the club.

With the season currently at a standstill, rumours have started to spread about a potential takeover at Newcastle with the Daily Telegraph claiming that a deal is close to completion.

The report claims that a consortium led by Dubai-based financier Amanda Staveley has submitted papers to the Premier League to takeover from current owner Mike Ashley.

With such reports being present in various media outlet, some Newcastle fans have started to debate the changes that could be made to thier club’s management and the squad, leading to calls for Benitez to come back as manager.

The former Liverpool boss is currently in charge of Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang, who he joined last summer.

After spending just over three years with Newcastle, Benitez played a key part in getting them promoted to the Premier League in 2016/2017, winning the Championship title.

The Spaniard’s replacement Steve Bruce has done moderately well with the club this season, sitting 13th in the Premier League standings as things stand.

With talk of a takeover, Twitter account @NUFCTakeover1 ran a poll asking fans who they wanted as manager should it happen, gaining many calls for Benitez to return.
