- Manchester United want to sign Lewis Hall
- Englishman open to leaving Newcastle United
- Jason Wilcox a big admirer of Hall
Lewis Hall has been one of Newcastle United’s shining lights in what has otherwise been an underwhelming 2025-26 campaign for Eddie Howe’s side.
However, it appears as if the Magpies will have to fight hard to retain his services this summer, with talkSPORT claiming that he is wanted by Manchester United.
Hall has been named in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be his priority at this point.
And after his international commitments with the Three Lions, Newcastle will likely sit down with the 21-year-old to discuss his future after interest from the Red Devils.
Lewis Hall open to Newcastle United departure
Hall joined the club in the summer of 2023 on an initial loan deal after struggling for game time at Chelsea.
Since then, he has steadily developed into one of the best left-backs in the Premier League.
This season, Hall has taken his performances to another level and has become an indispensable asset for Eddie Howe.
According to the aforementioned report, Manchester United want to sign Hall in the summer to provide cover and competition for Luke Shaw.
Jason Wilcox, who serves as the Red Devils’ Director of Football, is a big fan of the player, who joined the club for a fee believed to be in the region of £35m including add-ons.
The most striking part of the report is that Hall is believed to be open to a departure, which is a worrying sign for Newcastle as they prepare for an important summer transfer window.
Earlier this season, Wayne Rooney referred to Hall as a brilliant player after his standout display in the 1-1 UEFA Champions League against Barcelona.
Having already impressed in club football’s biggest competition, the Englishman could enhance his reputation further if he starts for his country at the World Cup.
Manchester United should keep their hands off Hall
There have been reliable reports that Newcastle won’t flat-out refuse offers for any of their first-team stars this summer, which is a sign that a handful of changes are in the offing.
However, Hall, along with Bruno Guimaraes, should not be sold regardless of what the offer may be.
Selling players to fellow Premier League rivals would set a terrible precedent at the club, which Newcastle must avoid if they are to become a force to be reckoned with again.
Hall is arguably the best left-back in the Premier League and is just 21, so his best days are well ahead of him.
Newcastle should send a clear message to Manchester United and other interested parties: Hall isn’t for sale this summer and that stance won’t change regardless of what the offer is.
