Newcastle United have now been linked to Sporting Lisbon star defender Ruben Semedo according to reports from the Chronicle.
The Sporting Lisbon defender is another player to be added to Rafa Benitez’s wish list to sign in the summer transfer window.
As Benitez looks to build up his defence heading into the 2017/18 Premier League season, it could put a large dent in the budget he is wishing to spend over the window.
The 23-year-old alone has a reported £38 million release clause in his current contract.
If Newcastle are going to target the defender they will have to face off competition from the likes of newly crowned champions Chelsea and Everton.
In the past, he has also been reportedly linked with top flight teams across Europe including AC Milan, Napoli, Southampton and West Ham.
The defender has made 29 appearances so far this season for Sporting Lisbon. He could be the next defender to be brought to Newcastle United with Grant Hanley’s future has recently been thrown into doubt after a series of reports.
