Bent tips Son to return against Newcastle – a worry for Bruce?

Former Tottenham striker Darren Bent has tipped Heung-Min Son to return to the Spurs side this weekend to face Newcastle United.

The 27-year-old has now completed a three-game suspension for a red card towards the end of the previous campaign and is free to turn out for Mauricio Pochettino’s side on Sunday.

And Bent, who spent two years at Tottenham, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, revealed he thinks the South Korean star will come in for Erik Lamela.

Listen, he’s (Lamela) done well, he’s scored a good goal and contributed to them getting a point but you’d like to think now Heung-min Son’s back from suspension, he goes straight back in.

He’s one player Spurs do miss, you saw in the Champions League last season against Manchester City, he does it in these big games. The moment he comes back, I’m sure he’s ready to go, he goes straight back into that team.

If Son does return to the starting line up this Sunday, it looks extremely likely that he will replace Lamela.

Spurs could also bring Lucas Moura back into the side following his vital goal against Manchester City, so Steve Bruce could have his work cut out in London.

The majority of Newcastle supporters aren’t expecting to take anything back to Tyneside from Tottenham’s new stadium, and if Bent’s prediction is correct, the Magpies’ afternoon could prove to be extremely tricky.

matchday.
