Five lower league gems Newcastle should target

Considering the success of summer signing Ivan Toney at the U-21’s, I think it’s only a matter of time before the Toon hierarchy dip into the lower league market once again.

Although first-team quality players need to be signed in January, it would do no harm if the club decided to spend some money on hot prospects from the lower English divisions.

For example, players like Dele Alli and Jamie Vardy both started plying their trade in the lower tier of the English footballing pyramid. Just look at what they’ve accomplished in the top flight!

With that being said, here’s a list of five lower league gems the Magpies should pursue over the coming months. I’ll be taking Championship, League One and League Two players into consideration.

matchday.
