Predicted XI: Newcastle vs Leicester

The Magpies will be looking to continue their recent upturn in form when they entertain Claudio Ranieri’s soaring Leicester City side at St James’ Park on Saturday.

Steve McClaren’s developing side have recorded just two wins from their 12 Premier League games so far this campaign, but in recent weeks performances and results have noticeably improved.

An unconvincing victory over AFC Bournemouth prior to the international break saw Newcastle leapfrog the Cherries and climb out of the relegation zone, however, the Magpies still sit precariously in 17th place, just two points above danger.

After thorough experimentation, McClaren finally seems to have stumbled upon his strongest United team and the former England manager will hope that the Magpies can pull away from danger by ascending the Premier League table over the coming weeks.

A victory over this season’s serial overachievers Leicester City would put some much-needed daylight between Newcastle and the dreaded drop zone.

Team News- Newcastle thankfully picked up no fresh injuries during the international break. Long-term absentees Tim Krul, Karl Darlow, Steven Taylor, Jack Colback, Rolando Aarons, Emmanuel Riviere and Gabriel Obertan all remain unavailable through injury.

Without further ado, here’s my predicted XI for Saturday’s 3pm kick-off.

matchday.
