Toon star reveals desire to stay on Tyneside

Finally, some good news for Newcastle fans as star man Ayoze Perez has warned off any suitors, claiming he is happy to stay on Tyneside.

The versatile 22-year-old’s terrific performances both last season and this season have resulted in the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal enquiring about his services.

The Spaniard has netted three goals for the Magpies this season and fans were beginning to worry about the possibility of him leaving in the January transfer window.

The Shields Gazette have quoted Perez as saying:

I am playing and am getting better. I cannot ask for anything else, because I am happy here.

The dazzling forward won the North East Football Writers’ Association’s Young Player of the Year award a few nights ago, and also revealed his desire to play for Spain one day.

I hope one day I can play for Spain – it will be a dream for me.

Whether or not these quotes will prevent the big guns from bidding in January remains to be seen, but at least the Toon faithful have something to shout about.

matchday.
