Ferdinand names four Toon players in his Best XI

Newcastle United legend Les Ferdinand has included Philippe Albert, Rob Lee, David Ginola and Alan Shearer in his Best XI.

The current Director of Football at QPR scored an astounding 41 goals in 68 appearances during his illustrious spell on Tyneside, and his mouth-watering partnership with Shearer now seems a distant memory.

Courtesy of the Premier League website, Sir Les named a team consisting of the best players he played with throughout his 20 years playing as a beastly striker.

Here’s the star-studded eleven:

Seaman – Bardsley, Campbell, Albert, Wilson – Anderton, Wilkins, Lee, Ginola – Sheringham, Shearer.

Ferdinand had some very kind words of admiration for his former Newcastle teammate David Ginola in particular:

He came to Newcastle and in his first season he was absolutely sensational. He was arguably the best player I ever played with!

The dazzling Frenchman wowed the Geordie faithful during his time at the club with his wonderful skills and exquisite technique on the ball.

The majority of Newcastle fans would do anything to see the likes of Albert, Lee, Ginola, Shearer and Ferdinand strut their stuff in the black and white shirt once more, but sadly, those days have passed.

matchday.
