Newcastle Player Ratings: Brighton (H)

Newcastle remain without a win since October at home as they were held to a goalless draw with Brighton.

Brighton’s Australian international ‘keeper Mat Ryan kept the Seagulls in the game, amid a game of very few clear cut opportunities.

Ryan made saves to keep out Isaac Hayden and Dwight Gayle in the second half. Meanwhile, Brighton continued their run of failing to score in away fixtures, now stretching to five games.

The draw does end a run of five defeats in a row for Newcastle at St James’ Park, however, it does see the Magpies slip to 16th in the Premier League table, whilst Brighton stay in a strong 12th place.

Rafa Benitez changed his tactics after the defeat to Manchester City, however it didn’t give Newcastle the cutting edge they needed.

Here is how we rated Newcastle after the draw with Brighton at home…
