Forest considering Gayle bid – should Newcastle let him go?

Nottingham Forest are considering a January swoop for Newcastle centre-forward Dwight Gayle.

According to The Athletic, Forest are looking into the possibility of bringing Gayle to the club in the next transfer window to add goals to their side.

The report also claims that Forest were one of a number of clubs weho attempted ot sign Gayle in the summer.

Should Newcastle let him join Forest?

Yes. Gayle, albeit not fully fit, has not featured in recent weeks for Newcastle and appears to be behind both Joelinton and Andy Carroll in the pecking order. If he is not going to play for Newcastle, why keep him at the club?

A loan move to Nottingham Forest, perhaps with the view to it becoming permanent, could be perfect. It would allow Gayle to play regular football and it could end up with Newcastle earning a decent transfer fee for the forward if he is able to fire the Championship side to promotion.

Newcastle have also been linked with a number of forwards ahead of the January transfer window, which means that he could fall even further down the pecking order. Victor Osimhen, of Lille, has been touted with a move to England in recent weeks.
