Newcastle set to let Ki, Manquillo and Elliot leave

Newcastle United are set to allow Ki Sung-yueng, Javier Manquillo and Rob Elliot leave the club, according to a report on HITC.

All three players’ contracts will expire at the end of this season and the Magpies have no intentions of extending their deals.

Manager Steve Bruce wants to refresh his squad and will allow the three players to run out their contracts.

The three haven’t featured much for the Toon Army this season, with Ki only featuring three times in the Premier League this season, whilst full-back Manquillo has played four top-flight matches this term.

Is it a good decision to let these three leave?

It is pretty encouraging to see that Bruce is already planning for the future. He wants to put his own stamp on this team and by allowing them to leave, he’ll be able to bring in new players that he prefers.

Ki is a tidy player but is very inconsistent, whilst Manquillo is finding it difficult to retain a starting spot at wing-back.

Elliot still hasn’t featured this season so moving from St James’ Park is the best option for his own personal development and playing time.

matchday.
