Newcastle fans can’t understand Bruce’s post-Oxford comments

Several Newcastle fans have expressed their disbelief following Steve Bruce’s comments after the game on Tuesday night.

Despite scoring two goals early on in their FA Cup replay with Oxford United, the U’s scored twice late in the game, including an equaliser that came deep into injury time, to send the tie into extra time.

Allan Saint-Maximin scored the winner for Newcastle with a thumping strike in the 116th minute to send the Magpies through to the next round, although many fans were left frustrated with the performance from their side.

Following the game, Bruce declared that his side had been in complete control for the majority of the game, except for the small window of time where Oxford scored both of their goals. As reported by Lee Ryder on Twitter, Bruce said:

I genuinely thought we were in complete control – until the last 10 minutes. We had a difficult five or 10 mins in extra times. But overall we deserved to win it.

After many supporters perceived a very different version of events, a number of fans have expressed their thoughts on Bruce’s comments across social media.

matchday.
