Newcastle United make £35m bid for ex-Real Madrid star
  • Newcastle United make offer for Victor Munoz
  • Osasuna attacker part of Spain’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad
  • Real Madrid have buy back clause for Munoz

After missing out on Zadok Yohanna to Brighton, Newcastle United are expected to scour the market for another winger to replace Anthony Gordon.

And now, reports from Spain claim they are in the battle to sign Victor Munoz, who has made massive strides this season with Osasuna.

Eddie Howe faces an important summer at the club and the business they conduct could define the course of the upcoming season, as was the case during the 2025-26 campaign.

And Munoz could be the one they turn to to add more quality in attack.

Newcastle United make £35m offer for Victor Munoz

Munoz was on the books at Real Madrid and moved to Osasuna for a fee believed to be in the region of €5m last summer.

Since then, he has quickly become one of the most exciting attackers in Spain, which led to his inclusion in Luis de la Fuente’s squad for the World Cup.

El Chiringuito report that Newcastle United have already lodged a £35m bid to secure his signature, which is believed to be his release clause.

Real Madrid have a buy-back clause which is around the same figure and also retain a large portion of his economic rights, which means they will be entitled to a large fee if Munoz is sold this summer.

Newcastle need to wrap up a deal quickly as the World Cup begins in less than a week. If they fail to do so and Spain progress to the knockout stages of the competition, they may have to wait for over a month to revisit the deal.

Munoz ideal for Newcastle United

ESPN describe Munoz as a sharp attacker who likes to take defenders on and shoot from distance. His physical attributes are top-notch, too, making him perfect for Premier League football.

The Spaniard is also capable of playing across the front line, so he could well be a like-for-like replacement for Gordon, who played out wide and as a centre forward under Howe.

However, Real Madrid could well trigger their buyback option if Munoz stars at the World Cup, while the likes of Barcelona and Aston Villa are also keeping tabs on him.

The Magpies have already lost out on Yohanna, so if they narrowed down on Munoz, it wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world to sort out a deal for him before he begins the tournament with Spain.
